What do you say about a sofa that is not really a sofa but art for seating pleasure! The Do-Lo-Rez from Moroso designed by Ron Arad is one piece of modern furniture that is on the far end of the designer spectrum where art meets functionality to create something that is feisty, functional and deliciously quirky!

Just the color palette in various shades of red and black (there is probably another option in a milder palette available at Moroso) is enough to set the senses going.

The modern sofa is not just a visual treat. It combines elements of modern technology and intuitive materials to create furniture that is sturdy and comfortable. The sofa itself combines several cube or cuboid shaped units that are independently affixed to the platform with the help of steel pins so one has carte blanche with the arrangement one wants. The earlier mentioned intuitive material is the polyurethane filling that is a softer one on the seats and denser one in the base unit for stronger support.

All units are similarly sized in width (21x21cm) whereas the heights keep on varying between 27.5cm and 83 cm to create that asymmetrical design that one can fall in love with. Moroso Sofa

While naming the modern sofa, Arad probably gave a spin to the homely ‘Dolores’, a popular enough name, gave her a jazzy new look, and reinvented her as the Do-Lo-Rez. Old wine in a new Bottle? Maybe. But what wine and what a delightfully appealing bottle!
